MUNDANE
My name is JC Candanedo and I am a London-based Visual Artist. This is my fashion photography story called Mundane that I shot as a social commentary about the influencer culture. Behind all those glamorous images on their social media, influencers are just regular people like the rest of us who still have to do mundane tasks on their day to day lives.
However, there is a subconscious collective aspiration to have the unattainable lifestyles and body types that we see on social media every day. And the pressure to live up to the expectations of society in terms of beauty and life experiences has a serious toll in our mental health.
The idea for the shoot came from a conversation with Stylist Roberta Bitto about how we all have to do very boring and mundane things in our daily lives even if other people see our social media accounts and find us above such things.
The series was created in collaboration with stylist Roberta Bitto, Makeup Artist Sabrine Salem and Hair Stylist Ryu Kyougoku. The models are Celia Krug from First Model Management and Alison Lyons.
